Our lives changed forever on this day and as a nation we promised that we would never forget those that lost their lives that day...the passengers on the planes, the many people that worked at the world trade center and the heroes that bravely ran into the buildings!

So this week during Sunday Sketches I wanted to create a sketch that was a tribute, in my small way, to remembering and honoring those that lost their lives along with the memory and the promise we made as a country that "we would never forget!"
I've been working with colored pencils and Sharpie for the last couple weeks and decided to create this sketch using the same. I've also been in a kitten and dog themed frame of mind and thought a dalmatian seemed like a good choice for this sketch...added the fire hat, flag and 9*11 medallion...resulting in this finished sketch dedicated to the memory of the heroes of 9/11.
From pencil sketch to pops of color!

Remembering in a big way...The Memorial Site!
Interactive Lady Liberty page showing the replica Liberty that showed up outside a firehouse in NYC after the tragedy...no one knows how it got there, but it is covered from torch to toe with uniform patches, miniature American flags, money, mass cards, rosary beads, condolence notes, souvenir postcards, angel figurines and other mementos from mourners and passersby.
In memory of the heroes of 9/11...I salute you and will never forget!
And will also not forget all of the brave men and women that serve this great country here and around the world!

I really enjoy your drawings--you are so talented. I love color pencil, so it's a treat to see them applied so skillfully.
I also appreciate your tribute to 9/11. The difficulty of this day is tempered with the sweetness of your pup.

this is beautiful,, such a beautiful tribute
A lovely tribute. I still can't believe that it has been 10 years. I remember that day so well - etched forever into my memory. My friend's son was in the first tower. He got out physically fine but mentally suffered for a very long time afterwards. I can't imagine what she must have gone through watching the scenes unfold on tv thousands of miles away across the ocean knowing her son was in there. That's just one story of the many thousands affected.
