A New Series...The Little Artist, Painting Happy Flowers W.I.P.

When I started my new job with Rose Art back in November I was inspired to create a design called
The Little Artist.
(A refresher pic in case you missed her the first time around!)

Hope your 2012 is starting off AWESOME!

I'm finding myself busy as a beaver at Rose Art and behind the scenes working on some new dolly designs for Adora Dolls...plus moving my daughter, Emily into a new place in LA (here's a peek at her place.)

...and finding a little time to catch a couple zzzz's, tweets and Facebook updates! All of this has resulted in me being absent from my blogging and sketching here in Pop Art Minis World! Plus, I think after reaching my goal to blog every single day during 2011 I became a little "blogged out" hehehe!

But, I'm hoping things will start to settle down and I will for sure be back up and running full steam ahead. We were living in Normal, IL (yep, there really is a place called Normal) and at the hospital for a New Year's celebration that I will never forget...the birth of my daughter, Emily Noel!

UNFORGETTABLE for sure...we even made the paper!

Sketching in shades of grey seems to have captured my attention the last couple of days. With creative time being squeezed out by the holidays, long work hours and family time I've enjoyed still being able to work in some sketch time inspired by one of my fave subjects the big eye Blythe doll...captivating eyes and a tiny pouty mouth!

I'm still thinking about whether to add color, but for now I'm liking the way they look in shades of grey!

My Sister, Shari has been at it again...this time with an amazing patchwork quilt made up entirely of wool sweater squares stitched together with love!

After a trip to the local Goodwill and lots of cutting, cutting, cutting the recycled collection of "woolly" and warm sweaters were transformed into an amazing Christmas gift for her Daughter and Son-in-Law!

A heartwarming gift full of warm fuzzies!

It seems like this time of year the days fly by faster than a speeding bullet which may be the reason that I have "Bots" on my brain! With so much to do and with what seems like shrinking days who couldn't use a little help from some robot friends?! I know I could!

So that's the inspiration behind my latest "sketch" yep, sketch...I couldn't even get beyond that point! Hey, wonder if they'll finish themselves! hehehe!

And just because I couldn't let Paint Party Friday go by without a few PoPs of color...here's a peak back at some past robot inspired drawings!

A Crafty Stash For Creative Fun In The Hive!

YAY! Just got home from work and finally a chance to post! And because I just got home I don't have any progress to report on my latest Pop Art Mini that still sits in black and white, but I can share a fun pic of my crafty stash that the Postman delivered today!

Creative fun that has my brain going full steam ahead with crafty ideas! This awesome package of goodies came from the Queen Bee, Melissa at Creating The Hive where I'm currently a member of The Hive Design Team! Can't wait to dive in! I'll be working on some creative tutes this weekend so stay tuned!

For now it's Taco Tuesday Time so I'm heading to the kitchen!

Monday Monday...One of Those Days!

Just wanted to pop in with a quick post...I've been finding these last few weeks have been a challenge to get to my drawing board every day. So today's share is just what I'm calling my Monday Mash up!

1. My work desk is filled with some trinkets, treasures and treats for energy...busy, busy busy, but loving my new job at Rose Art!

2. My latest drawing sits patiently waiting for pops of color! Hoping that I can still get to that before bedtime!

3. I spent a good part of the weekend dipping, dipping, dipping...and more dipping candles! Yummy Fun!

Amazing out of the mess above can come candles made with love! :)

Plus, family time too...whew!

Hoping that after the holidays things will get back to normal!

It's a Sunday Sketches W.I.P. post! Another big eyed girl that can hardly wait to unwrap the surprise that's tied up with a big bow!

A Sweet Saturday Show and Tell...D.I.Y. Candy Cane Wreath Tute!

It's a Sweet Saturday Show and Tell with a Do-It-Yourself Candy Cane Wreath Tute!

This adorable red and white wreath is as easy as can be and is perfect to deck your halls or walls this holiday season!

Here's the picture how to start to finish!

Materials:

1 - 8" Foam Wreath Form

1/2 yard muslin - cut into 4" wide strips

1 Yard Red Cotton or Canvas Fabric - Cut into 4"x4" Squares

1 Yard White Cotton or Canvas Fabric -Cut into 4"x4" Squares

Large package of straight pins

Ribbon for Finishing Touch

Pin and wrap the muslin around the foam wreath form.

Cutting the white cotton into strips and than into 4"x4" squares

Do the same for the RED Cotton fabric.

All cut and ready to pin into place.

Gather the 4"x4" squares into a bunch and pin into wreath. I created approx. 2" chunks alternating the red and white.

Leave the back empty so that it will lay flat against the wall.

YAY! The pinning is done...Red and white complete!

Add a loop of ribbon to the back for hanging. Hot glue or pin in.

Add a decorative bow and your ready to go!

A candy cane wreath...a perfect sweet treat!

A SWEET Saturday Holly Day Angel...Creative Every Day 26

It's been an awesome week with the turkey day holiday stuck in the middle...always appreciate and yes, very THANKFUL for an extra couple of days at home! Although, I haven't been as creative with my sketching this week as I would have hoped I am happy that I finally was able to finish up a Sweet Saturday Holly Day Angel sketch that's been on my desk the last few days!

Here's a look start to FINISH!

The holidays always seem to be such a busy time so it was nice to get this one complete in between Thanksgiving with family, dipping candles for orders from my prim candle shop, and reorganizing my new creative nesting space...which I'm happy to report is shaping up nicely! Here's a studio pic update in case you missed yesterdays sneak peek!

I think I'm going to enjoy creating in my new space!

Now where's my sketchpad..time to get back to more creative fun and get to work on my Sunday Sketch!

Razzle Zazzle...Studio Frazzle...Black Friday Fun!

I'm not one to dash out on Black Friday to scoop up some bargain that I couldn't resist or live without, but I will take part in a little online Black Friday Fun! Plus I'm in the midst of a "frazzled" studio relocation (my daughter is moving back home for a short time until her dream apartment is ready to move in to).

Wow! I can't believe how quickly this month is flying by! It seems with the blink of an eye we'll buzz past Thanksgiving and right into Christmas caroling, cookie baking and holiday parties!
